Alan and his Taylor Custom Shop 610
"Blue Marlin Guitar"
Alan has been playing this unusual guitar on stage this year. Denise Jackson asked me if I could help her design a guitar as a gift for Alan's birthday present in 2001. So I contacted Bob Borbonus at Taylor Guitars and this is the result. The Taylor Custom Shop craftsman are responsible for it's unique qualities.
It is based on their 610 model. It has AAA grade quilted maple on the back and sides and a AAA sitka spruce top with lots of silking.
It's most unusual feature are the inlays.  Alan is an avid sports fisherman and the custom shop folks designed a double Blue Marlin inlay at the 12th fret. The ebony fingerboard has some wave-like streaking in it to resemble water. The body is trimmed out in abalone shell as is the sound hole.
All in all a very cool guitar.
